North Cascades Loop
Travel this route beginning mid July, wonderful through October. From Seattle follow I-5 N. through Bellingham to Mt. Baker National Recreation Area, where snow often lingers into July then suddenly yields to wildflowers. Backtrack to the North Cascades HIghway and follow over Rainy Pass through North Cascades National Park to Winthrop and the Chewuk River. Next it's down the Methow and up the Twisp River before heading south along the Columbia River. Finally up U.S. 2 for a last day in Leavenworth before heading back over Stevens Pass to Seattle. Four days.
