Jug Handle State Reserve along the Mendocino Coast. Jug Handle State Natureal Reserve is best known for its unique Ecological Terrace where tectonic plate acitivity is seen. Famous California State Highway 1 hugs the Pacific Ocean Coast along the Mendocino Coast from Fort Bragg, California south past the village of Mendocino to the famous Golden Gate. This stunning coastline is often skipped by coastal drivers preferring the straight route along U.S. 101.
