Newberry National Volcanic Monument in the Deschutes National Forest south of Bend, Oregon was created in 1990.  The highest point, 7,985' Paulina Peak looks down on two alpine lakes within a 17 square mile caldera, and several lava flows.  The monument provides hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and boating opportunities.  National Volcanic Scenic Byway.
