Headlands and boulders stretch to the north from South Beach, in American Camp National Historic Park. South Beach has the longest walkable beach on San Juan Island. From headlands in the north to diminutibve Cattle Point Lighthouse seen in the far south, the beach rivals any other on the Pacific Coast. Here, Diminutive Cattle Point Lighthouse marks the entrance to Cattle Pass, and for many mariners the entrance to the San Juan Island. Lopez Island in the near foreground, Whidbey Island in the far background. Cattle Point Interpretive area between Cattle Point Road and Haro Strait.
