World famous Grasshopper Creek flows along the base of these mountains in the Big Hole Valley in Southwestern Montana is nearly surrounded by the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.  It is the highest valley in Montana, with the Big Hole River, winding about 150 miles, internationally famous for trout fishing.  Grasshopper creek led gold rush miners to the big finds at Bannack, Montana, now a state park.  Near Big Hole Pass, and Big Hole Divide.
