The Clearwater River, which is wholly within the State of Idaho, hosted Native Americans and Lewis and Clark. The South Fork Clearwater River is shown here on the road to Elk City, the south fork runs along Idaho along State Highway 12, and alternate route from Lewiston to Grangeville. The South Fork Clearwater shares it's headwaters with the remote Red River and is joined by the equally famous Lochsa. Both famous for rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping and wildlife. Northwest Passage Scenic Byway. This strecth of the South Fork Clearwater is along Highway 14 near the junction with Highway 13.
